Is Installation Of Y-pipe Hard, And Sound Any Good ?
i'm thinking about getting a new y-pipe but don't know which one.
custommaxima has one for 250 and warpspeed has one for 200. i have read some installation how to's but seems kinda hard. i just installed my CE racing street pipe and they said its a simple installment, justremove the old bolts and pop that sucker in. yeh too bad the bolts were freaken rusted as hell and didn't move, i broke my socket wrench, flathead, drilled it, tried cutting it,
and nothing would work. had a friend come down w/ a blow torch and finally came off. does the y-pipe have to be like that? should i get professionally installed or not. also i only have a few mods, no exhaust but an intake and that pipe. does the y-pipe sound any good?

wont be hard if you already broke free the rusted straight pipe bolts. the bolts ont he manifold probalby wont be rusted so theyre easy to break free. seems like your not very mechanically inclined, go pay a shop to take care of it, less frustration.
getting the cat out is in my opinion 10X harder than putting a y pipe on due to the bolts being such a huge pain. Thank god i got mine off and replaced them with some stainless ones, though my testpipe is garbage and is aluminum so i went ahead and got one of these babys...speaking of which here is my baby showing off her new nissan hat and resonated testpipe with a thumbsup at that, i guess she likes it
i actually got the nuts and bolts from a friend thats in the manufacturing business but if you go to google.com and search for stainless nuts and bolts you can order them online if you know the size. otherwise go to home depot and ask them or look theyll be there. -Ryan
Check the GD forum....I picked up my warpspeed for $160 shipped! Not a bad deal. Install wasn't much but I agree with Joosdawg about the cat & straight pipe bolts. I ended up cutting mine with a grinder due to the friendly New England winters. Seeing that you live in SC, maybe yours wont be as bad. Good luck! If all goes well it should be installed in about 45 min start to finish.
maybe soaking the bolts would help, if your going to do the install on the weekend (as much of as a hasstle as it may seem) spray the botls with WD-40 or stronger, atleast once a day and go about your business so when that bolt heats up it soaks up the wd-40, doing this a few days in advance might save some trouble when you hit the weekend to take it off.
just and Idea, sounds like it would work (in theary) right?
