intakes...

the only problem i have ever had with this car is that parts of the intake randomly vibrate off (apart) and it stalls due to the MAF sending inaccurate information to the ECU about the ammount of air thats going to the engine

well it finally pissed me off enough today that i took the entire intake apart with the intent of finding a permanent solution to the problem... i came to the conclusion that i could never make it work using the parts i have, mostly due to the fact that i'm missing pretty much every fastner thats associated with the intake system, so that the only thing holding it together is all the hoses and the hose clamps that hold the different parts of the intake together (where it keeps falling apart)

i'd rather just fab together something of my own design that i know will work instead of trying to fix the POS stock setup

right now i just bypassed ALL the emissions stuff by hooking the MAF directly to the intake manifold which to my surprise actually works... as long as i keep the RPMs above 1k. if not, it stalls right away

what i would like to know is which parts of all the emissions crud do i need to hook up to make it run right again

please post some pictures of your custom intakes so i have something to work from

hey playa you need to get that stuff fixed you are gonna need to reattach all those hoses you can look at my webpage at cardomain.com 1985 nissan maxima titled "Eds Max" first your gonna need to get tha adapter that connects to the MAF then get you some tubing i would just go to the junkyard and get a new MAF i wouldnt suggest cleaning it out because of the element stuff on the inside top it all off with a cone filter and you would be straight.

That big blue hose, IIRC without it connected between the TB and MAF, it won't idle right. Here's a couple angles of my setup anyway:

And one of the stock setup:

The plug looks like it goes to the TPS. That could be a source of idling problems too.
