Short Ram Intake

Hi guys Ive been crusing the stickies for stuff about intakes... CAI seems a bit much for me and we get huge puddles around here when it rains... I saw a how to for making an intake but the dude duct taped it all up.. Im all set with duct tape under my hood (no offense) what im looking for is a how to for this:

Hybrid/ Short Ram A hybrid intake uses a cone filter with a MAF adapter and replaces the stock intake resonator with a smooth tube. Upper RPM gains are as good as better than a Pop charger and there is little or no low end power loss. This seems to be the most popular intake among board members at the moment. You can buy a hybrid setup from Frankencar Performance or buy the upper tube of a CAI from Place Racing or Warpspeed and piece together your own. There are also hybrid type setups available on Ebay, as above most come with a cheap filter that I would recommend replacing with a K&N.

Ive seen them on ebay and stuff, its got hoses and everything else, I can get it done easy if i had a nice write up telling me what to do... anyhelp would be awesome.

ummm i would say PR..i think its place racing..not sure..but its the intake that goes in teh fender....that would help i guess for the true CAI......but i think the injen style works just fine....but 1 u could do is get custom tubing with a filter that takes the plave of your battery...and relocate battery...maybe that helps ...check the stickies and vqpower.com that should help.

What i did was the same thing as "Brian V" said to do with his custom short ram, except that i used a thin bead of silicone between the gold plate and the MAF. It helps to seal it up a little better, without the duct tape. It works really well, plus it sounds pretty beastly. Just my .02

Cut a hole it the airbox it you want sound. Or do an experiment: attach the panel filter to the top of the box and remove the lower air box. Since you're not afraid of using duct tape and try that for a couple days, go back to stock and see that stock runs alot smoother, if you dont notice a diff go get a pop charger/short ram, whatever, just me .02 cents

No i didn't. If you want a "custom" short ram go to home depot in the plumbing isle, they have alot of 2.5 and 3" pipe/rubber elbows ect. Then you can run it wherever you want. I'd suggest getting an adapter for your maf though, you dont want the short ram falling off lol! You can get one at cattman, i know that, but if you or someone you know has cool tools you can always make one

Don't remove that box just after the MAF. It creates a pressure zone around the air that straightens and evens out the flow.
