Ok. I'm new to this so bare with me.

I am thinking about lowering my Max. I have 97 GXE. From what I have been able to gather here. I will need springs and struts. I've read that springs alone will more than likely cause the stock struts to wear out quickly. So springs and struts:
Where is a good place to get them and how much should I expect to pay to have them installed?
Can I do it my self?
Will a 1.5" drop require a camber kit?

I know these things have been asked before, but I haven't seen them all asked together and I can't piece it together myself.

Its free if you cut the springs

ok no..

probably 500

219 for h&r's and 3xx for tokico's

no camber kit for 1.5

shox.com has them cheap..

if you want sprint sprngs 2 inch drop.. Alex at southeast autoworks sells them for 119

price will depend on where you live.. i have seen from 200 - 300 for install..

however if you have the tools its not hard to do yourself

NickStam has instructions here

because you are using Tokico if you so choose you only do 1 - 9

I have the Sprints and Tokicos. I like them fine. I would just save money until you can get struts too. It would just be a pain to have to go through the installation a second time later.

The price of the install will depend on where you are located. I'm in NYC and it cost me $200 to get my Eibach/Tokicos put in. I thought that was a little on the high side, but it was a place that I trusted and that I frequent a lot, so I had no problem shelling out the $$$.

Where are you located anyway?

Hey mzmtg how is the ride with the sprints? And do you have custom rims? Cause I was thinking of also getting 18" rims, would that be a problem with the sprints?

thanx

Yeah, I'm wondering about the ride quality myself. I've read 15-20% stiffer ride. Any comments on that?

Good point about having all the work done at once. I was thinking about just the springs. But it wouldn't make sense to go through the install process twice.

BTW, I'm in San Diego. Anyone know who and where would be a good place to go and have this done? Actually, I may try to find a friend to help me. So maybe just a good place to buy them. Also, sprints or h&rs, others? I think I want a 1.5" drop. What's the price and ride quality cost between a 1.5" and a 2" drop?

I'm also working on doing my suspension...I'm thinking about H&R's and Tokico's or KONI's, I know Tokico's re much cheaper then Koni's but is it really worth spending more cash and getting KONI's or Tokicos work just fine???

nothing beats H&R's on Ride quality.. not even Eibachs.. sprint i havn't installed them yet.. but the lower you go the more you are going to suffer (although that is not the case with H&R's i had those..they were excellent) however its cheaper to go with the Spring on the 2 inch drop than the H&R's or Eibachs

SprintMax back when u had H&R which struts was it riding on? Can u make a comparision/elaborate on the difference between H&R and the stock spring in terms of ride harshness and corner lean? Oh and was your car an SE? Cause I'm wondering IF H&R is as comfy as stock SE springs then how could it help at all in cornering. Thanks!
