Possibility of 4.0 maxima?

Not sure if it was talked about, but what are the odds of use seeing a 4.0 maxima in the near future. I saw that the new pathfinders have 4.0 liter engines.

Its been talked about... eventually it will happen once the 3.5 gets out dated... and most likely it will end up in the G as well...

I want a maxima that RWD with a turbo... How sick would that be and not to mention 2 door.

Pretty much 4.0-4.5 liters is as far as it will ever go. The VQ40DE isn't even the same block and almost could have been called something else.

There is a 4.3L rebuild kit for the VQ for about 10K.

My hunch is that with Nissans being hard enough to move off the lots (here we go again, Titan out in the 2nd year, REBATES. Altima, REBATES. Maxima, REBATES. Shift_Resale? No, S**T resale. Only it isnt a rebuild kit and it isn't 4.3 liters.

It requires VERY extensive machine work and there are two sizes to choose from. One is 4.2 liters and the other is 4.4 liters.

Your entire post is meaningless. Go educate yourself with some meaningful info. www.nissannews.com . Someday you might understand that Nissan Motor Company now has among the very highest profit margins for auto manufacturers. And their sales growth percentage was higher than ANY other manufacturer in the US last year.

This has already been done once. The Maxima just got a more powerful version of the VQ35 than the Pathfinder.

Why would they make all the room for a 4L when all they would have to do is tweak the 3.5L to make the same HP as the g? They could easily get an extra 30 HP out of the 3.5 with a little minor modification. They squeezed out an extra 10 for the 6thgen without changing much. They could do a new IM, exhaust, ECU.

No one said that it was really going to happen. But it does appear that Nissan has finally figured out American tastes for torque. Yes you can squeeze alot more power out of a VQ35 but what you can't do is get alot more low end torque of it. And as the Maxima becomes bigger and heavier it will need a larger engine to keep up.

Thankfully, Nissan didn’t neglect the engine on the new model, featuring an all-new tall-block version of the VQ-series V-6. I think it would be possible.

My only point is that once you stray from the original block dimensions you should consider changing the name as well. Yes it shares much of the older VQ technology but this one is vastly different from the earlier VQs. And it is probably too tall to fit in the A34 chassis.

do you agree that the VQ30 and VQ35 are different. Well what could be the big difference between the VQ35 and theVQ40? the length of the block. I'm just talking about using the block write now. I'll have to do more research on the heads. because of the computer control.

Hmm.......GUYS.....the Nissan 4.0 is not a V-8. As far I know a lot of car with the 4.0 configuration usually is a V-8 but Nissan's is a V-6. I hate toot my own horn, You guys are soooooo WRONG!

To someone who leases, maybe so. But to someone who buys, it's very important to understand that the dealership cannot pay you more for your trade, than what they pay to purchase from the mfg. That means if you bought a Titan last year, regardless of what deal you received, good or bad, when 9 mos. later Nissan announces a $1000 rebate on it, you immediately lose $1000 in trade-value.

If Nissan has an excellent margin, a point with which I agree, that's great for Nissan, not the consumer. Or are you saying that's somehow good for the consumer? The fact that they can offer a $2000 rebate on a car that costs as little as the Sentra does, or $1500 on a 4 cyl. Altima, supports the great margin theory. The list is artificially high. That's how sales tend to work, you offer a discount off of a high price, to get a consumer to bite.

As I said, EVERY model of Nissan currently has a rebate on it, including the brand-new Pathfinder, except the 350Z and Murano. Name one other car co. that does that. Good luck, and happy rebates.

The altima has a 3.5 now and its a tiny bit faster than the max, i always thougth the maxima was the top sedan!!

The Maxima still is the flagship sedan. It's just no longer the quickest sedan.

well the xterra or somthing had a s/c vq and that never made it into a max so therer's nothing saying that a 4.0vq is gonna land into the max.

The Xterra had a supercharged engine. But it was no VQ engine. I dont even know if the engine in the original xterra was made by nissan?

What's so interesting about Nissan design philosophy is that they seem to experiment at the production level (not just with styling). What I mean is look at the difference between the 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004 Maximas as far as the motor goes. Release now, refine later.

Did you know that there is a 2005 330i performance package that goes 155 mph? Does 0-60 in 5.9, and it's not even M? That's the German way--it's all in there, just a question of whether it should be unleashed. Japan unleashes it even if the chassis isn't up to snuff. The 4th gen already can do in excess of 130 mph without any chassis to back it up. Now the Max is up to what, 265 hp with no chassis to back it up, how much more does anyone want?

Then again, I know, the audience is not sophisticated. They slap a round LED into the stock tailamps and say look, LED tails! Who cares if the driver behind knows whether the car in front is braking or why the lamps are crooked on one side with dual exhausts. BMW has adaptive brake lamps standard on the 325 base model, where engineering actually went into them (cool, leds!). But their engineers forgot the fake dual exhausts.

Hey there are honda accords that are 2 door FWD. Hey i could dream can i. Same goes for the BMW 2 and 4 door. Ok i think i really pushed it with the turbo. How about 4 door maxima with RWD. Thats about it.....TURBO!

I heard somewhere, i dont remember where, but Nissan is thinking about making a maxima coupe sometime. I may have heard wrong...but imagine how that would look....

A rwd 2-dr maxima is here. It's call the M35. You want a rwd 4.0 maxima? It's call the M45.

SR, who did the 4.0 maxima swap??

IMHO, if the next gen max uses the Altima/murano chassis, I could see a 4.0 V6 IF it's also awd.
