Bose stock subwoofer on my Maxima

Hey guys, has any of you installed the subwoofer that the Bose system gets for the Murano or the Pathfinder, on your Maxima? I've seen it would use very little room on the trunk and enhance the audio system a lot. Is the radio compatible? Would I be able to buy it from Nissan?

Wuz up wakkus?

wouldn't this be diffrent, the murano is an open vehicle and the max is closed off by the trunk, would this still give you the same responce as the murano?

anybody???

'Sup Niq;

The system would only get better on the very low notes. Remember that the Bose system has two 8" woofers on the rear deck, so that's good enough for the vehicle all closed. Freq under 10 KHz would be more "alive" and better with a big woofer. But if you want to show off outside of the car, you can open the trunk and get a good thump out of it in freq from 30k and below....

That's what I'm trying to find. I just can't find the price in the internet for the sub on the Nissan SUVs. You can't even see them on the Bose site...
Also if the sub is $100 more expensive, but half the size of a box, then I would be interested....

I added an Infinity Basslink to the trunk of the max and am quite pleased. The Murano sub is not that good. While the Pathfinder is really good. The Basslink goes lower however and is less than $200 new on Ebay. It also comes with a remote gain control which comes in handy. The Infinity is also a pretty small package.

How did you connect the basslink to the bose?

I got a self-amplified Bazooka tube for about $150 from ebay. 200w and just tap into the speaker leads off the stock woofers. Easy install and adds a low-end filler/rumble. Saves space as well. You only need a power and ground wire, it doesn't even require a remote wire since you're using the high-level inputs. It detects the signal and turns on the amp.
On the down side, it doesn't have a remote gain control that you can feed up to the front, but I use the bass settings on the head unit to lower it if I ever need to.. which is rare.
I know a lot of people are against Bazooka tubes, but it works for me.

So it doesn't add noise to the lines that feed the stock woofers??

Are you saying that you splice the line that goes to the Bose woofers from the bose amp?

No noise, it just receives a small amount of that signal to amplify.
I didn't do any splicing, i used some speaker wire and put it in between the terminal of the speakers and the connector at the end of the wire. Squeezed them on and it was a snug fit. No evidence of messing with the speakers if i ever decided to sell the car.

I'm not sure what the exact differences are, but my radio is non-Bose. I just tapped in to the speaker wires of the factory 'subs'. This eliminates the need to run a turn-on lead from the head unit. I only ran a power line and ground. The Basslink senses a signal from the speaker level inputs and turns itself on.

So you would be having two subs in parallel right?? And the connection is not RCA, just normal speaker wire. All subs work right? And how long has this been connected?

I just can't believe it's that easy sixth!! If that's all, then we should all have one of those....

Yeah, it's easy. The basslink accepts speaker level inputs from left and right (pos & neg for each) so it wires up just like two subs in parallel. Just splice into the factory speaker wires and plug the harness into the basslink. All speakers are working. It will be real easy to remove as well (I have a lease) and bring it to my next car.

i installed it in November. I think you can find the .pdf instruction manual on Infinity's website.
