place racing cold air intake

i installed my intake late december and when i put the filter on, it is touching the fender wall. i tried adjusting it and it didn't work. i was wondering if anyone else had this problem. i think i might just sell it and get a berk or fc intake. do the intakes sound a like or is there a big difference?

I installed mine and the filter touches the plastic fender piece between the filter and tire. I just run with it like that and haven't had any problems. If it's touching the metal fenderwell you may be able to glue a piece of foam where it touches to stop any rattling or banging around. You can also try widening the hole it passes through. The placement of that hole determines where the filter sits.

yea mine touches the plastic piece like yours. wouldn't the air be restricted by that side?

could try spinning the piping a bit depending on how big of a hole you cut out....why bother wasting money on another piece of metal? you can take off the lower piping and put the filter on after the maf adapter...that's how mine is for now. until the warmer weather arrives.

that's a good idea. never even thought about that. i think i'm going to see if i can adjust the piping so that the filter doesn't touch. if not i guess i'll turn it into the wai. but by connecting the filter to the maf adapter, will u still feel gains as any other wai? and do u have any pictures of ur intake as it is right now?

I changed the filter - am using one of the k&N designs. It is a cylinder that is both longer and narrower than the one that comes with the CAI. You should find one at your local auto parts store.

I got tired of the filter pushing out the plastic in the wheel well.

Fits fine - just make sure you get the correct opening size. I would measure.

K&N performs very well. I've heard some say they like monster better. Personally, I don't think it makes much difference. But, you do need to clean either regularly.
