The latch mechanism inside the driver's side door has broken. The door will not stay shut. I've pulled the interor trim off the door but I'm unsure where to go from there. Help ! ! !

 

Lubrication does not help?

...take the lock out.

I don't think lube will help. The "U" clip in the lock will not stay put. When I open the passenger I can push the clip down and I hear a click when it latches. Then when I pull the handle it unlatches. The driver side will not latch. The picture you sent gives me a better idea of what I'm up against though. Thanks.
