for anyone with clutch issues

so it started with having some difficulty getting into reverse....but i was ok with that cause i just don't use reverse enough to be annoyed by it...then i started having trouble getting into 1st (which i obviously use alot)...before i knew it i was trapped at lights trying to get into gear and just wrestling the stick through the gates.
so after a couple of searches on this board, i took a peek under the hood and saw that #1 the fluid in the clutch master cylinderlooked like liquid graphite and #2 the slave cylinder showed signs of weepage. picked up a slave cylinder at Advance Auto for like $20 + some brake fluid. popped it in - cleaned out the resevoir and filled it with fresh fluid. i started to bleed the system and nothing happened. so i figure what the heck, 200K miles on the original clutch master cylinder is nothing to complain about. so i went back to Advance Auto and picked up a new on for about $30. got home - dropped it in (to my surprise, these things are incredibly easy to install) - started bleeding and VOILA!!! a fully engaging and disengaging clutch...

just thought i'd share

Good job! If you chnage out the rubber piece of the clutch line with a stainless one. Major difference, engaging and releasing is precise. someone on here makes them cheap.

On both my third gens this has happened, and both times it was the master cylinder. I was kinda pi$$ed the second time when I found out how easy it was, because the first time, the tranny shop charged me $300 to do it.
