hey guys,
well im replacing the pads for my rear brakes. I got the old pads off and put the new ones on but i can get the caliper back over because the piston is pushed out to far. I read in my serivice manaul that you have to twist it clockwise. Well ive been twisting and it doesnt seem to be moving. Its moving very very very very slowly! Has anyone ever had this problem or have a solution? PLEASE HELP in going insane!

 

I have a car with high miles. I had a really tough time turning the rear calipers, but I finally did it. You may have a frozen caliper. If so you need a new one. You may just have an old one like me. Keep at it. It is imperative if you have a tough turning caliper that you are using a caliper tool to turn the piston. Many on the forum will tell you using pliars is enough. That is not my experience with old rear calipers...

 

the right tool will allow you to apply pressure while turning. pushing in while turning is needed to get the piston in. get the cheap/inexpensive cube caliper tool from autozone or advance auto. that, a 3/8" ratchet and 6" extension should get you there.

i have 193k on mine and i had no problems

 

all you need is a pair of pliers and some muscle its not that hard.. unless the are frozen then go buy some new ones
