what is the most super rice 9004 bulb out there?

OK, I tried many bulbs and none come close to the ones my friend has on his max. He has the 9004 Farenheit super white xenon bulbs 45/65W. These produce the most crisp and true WHITE color out of all 9004 bulbs that claim to do the same and don't even come close, like for example the PIAA xtreme white, which are fu.cking yellow (bought them before so excuse my language).

I know many here have argued to go ahead and purchase 80/100W bulbs, but supposedly without modifying the wires these bulbs will eventually fry them. So please, if you do have a suggestion post it here, but keep them under 80/100W. Thanks

When will we learn it's called marketing... Everybody's superwhite bulbs are brighter and whiter then anybody elses bulbs.

Fact is a light bulb with any color "filter" on the glass is reducing the light output of the bulb. The blue color filters out yellow light, thus making them appear whiter when actually your simply taking away the yellow spectrum. It's causing a negative effect on the lumens output of the device.

Personally I like the PIAA bulbs, most noticably for the beam pattern which is very crisp. Most other super white bulbs or other cheap high powered bulbs have poor beam patterns or focus. That makes the light even worse. The PIAA lights are focused, they look whiter, cleaner and thats cool. I still can't see in the rain, thats sucks, but I can live with that.

Silverstars are by far the whitest but certainly not brightest. As njmaxseltd explained, nothing will be brighter than stock without upping the wattage.

in that case guys, what would I need to put in 9004 80/100W bulbs? I know this causes something to melt, so my friend told me that all I have to do is buy these other sockets from pepboys or anywhere else and that will solve the problem. Is that correct?

Or do I need more stuff?

All you would need Armani would be an upgraded 9004 light harness. They are three wires and are pretty straight forward on the install....9.99 on ebay for a pair. Use these harnesses and 80w/100w bulbs and you will need

Thanks for the help. Just so that I'm on the right track, all I have to do with this is basically cut my stock wires and merge them with these, correct?

Also, wouldn't this mod also enable me to put in 9007 bulbs in?

How does splicing in a new harness solve anything? The wattage is still flowing through the original higher gauge wire.

If you want to protect the wiring from damage due to overload.... you will need to install relays to power the lights... if you upgrade the wiring and use relays to power the system you should have no problems with the wiring.. since the factory wiring would just switch on the relays ... however I have seen other cars suffer melted headlight housings from the extra heat produced by the higher wattage bulbs.... I don't know if this would be a concern on the Maxima lights...

I don't understand how the melting is eliminated. Unless the harness extends to the power source I don't see how this can work. I believe that you have done it and had good experience. I just need it explained to understand the reasoning.

...like I said in the first post, my friend's Farenheit Super White Xenon 9004 80/100 bulbs give off the most white light, the whitest I've ever seen from a regular bulb. They DO NOT contain yellow light whatsoever and are basically like a 4700k HID divided by 4. I used to own many others, including PIAA xtreme white bulbs - now these crappy bulbs came nowhere near giving off white light. PIAAs are definitely a POS.

So in the end, I think I'll just buy the bulbs my friend uses. I simply thought there are other ones out there that will do the same, perhaps better quality ones. Apparently not.

Dont they sell them @ pepboys?...
Or is that specifically made to convert 9004s to 9007s?
I could have sworn APC has this product @ pepboys.

In order for these halogen bulbs to give off this whitish color you're looking for, they have to tint the bulbs. Those tinted bulbs never last long. Plus they will reduce the amount of output you're getting. Try driving in the rain, with those sucky bulbs. No halogen bulb will ever come close to the output and brightness of HIDs. Not even HIR bulbs.

the reason the harnesses melt is not because of just the wattage, but the HEAT that the bulbs generate.

Higher wattage = more heat

That's what wattage is, a measure of power, or energy output over time.

Lets add to this.............

Thin wires add too much resistance (causing heat to build up) to allow current to flow at the proper rate for high wattage bulbs.

Thanks for explaining why heat builds up. But why does the original part of the harness not melt?

I agree on PIAAs they are great bulbs. I am soon getting PIAA H4s, just purchased some Cefiro lamps. Only complaint about my PIAAs is the same complaint you have. I can't see **** in the rain and it bothers me.

It use to be real bad when I had bald Uniroyals that would just hydroplane like crazy. I can see a little bit better in the rain now due to my ground wires, have improved lighting greatly IMO.

I'm a fan of the Nokyas. I had Silverstars and they were crap when compared to the Nokyas.
