Found new intake...

Hey everyone...Just joined today...been lookin around but haven't seen this site: "http://www.frankencar.com" brought up by anyone.

They seem to be making some stuff specially for the Maximas and Altimas.

Anyone know how they compare to the regulars (Berk, Injen, Stillen)?

Thanks KC,

Yeah, I checked out the site last night and it seems as though they've got some sort of "hybrid intake" (whatever that means) and a complete exhaust system that's ready to ship...

They also have some sound and video clips of their Altima 2.5 equipped with the intake and exhaust system...it sounds pretty neat.

But then again..who knows what else is under the hood of that Altima.

Sparq.

The frankencar intakes are popular with 4th gen maximas. Check out the 4th gen forum and modification FAQ's for more info.

Basically it's a combination of a popcharger (cone filter intake) with a mid-pipe, that replaces the intake resonator. Actual HP gains are debatable, and the conclusion seems to be that the franken car midpipe style intake has no real performance benefit.

I have been looking through the threads trying to find the best intake for my new Maxima, I have seen franken car, berk, injen, Jim Wolf.....
I was wondering what the general consensus was about these intakes, who makes the best one. Any info will help.

The Frankencar intake for the 5.5 Gen is almost identical to the Berk in terms of components and sound... everyone who has em likes em...

The mid-pipe/cone filter set-up has very slight gains... NMMax has dynos of it in the Dyno forums.... people do it more cuz it sounds good....

Mexi,

I am very happy with my Stillen. Havent had any problems with it. Alot of people prefer Berk or Injen, and although I havent had them, my problem -free Stillen seems worth it to me.

I cant say that the HP gain is noticable, a little if at all, but the sound of it makes it feel like it. That might sound lame, but trust me, get into 3rd and get up to about 80mph, its niiiiiice. Its worth the couple hundred in my view if you like to HEAR your engine pumping.
