1157 led bulbs in tails?

Has anyone tried the red 1157 bulbs from superbrightleds.com in their tails. The one I want to try is 15mm Dual Contact Bayonet Base. Unique Design has 18 LEDs aiming out the end and 6 radially mounted LEDs aiming 90 degrees from the base or Wide Viewing angle LEDs. Members of the Org. seem to feel that the a direct beam bulb does not fill the tail with enough light, which is a concern. Has anyone tried it with one of these bulbs with the 6 radially mounted leds? How does it look? Are you happy with it? A picture would be great, but I'll take an opinion for now. Thanks for all of your hard work in helping to maintain & modify the world's greatest car!!

From my experience, any LED bulb you pop in there is gonna give you a red spot in the center of the lense and very little lighting elsewhere.

Those bulbs may be good for clear lenses like in the front lenses or the center of the Gen II Altezza's as turn signals but I don't think they'll look too good through the stock tails.
