MEVI vs VI

There has been so much talk about the MEVI and VI i was wondering what would be the best for me and if there is a thread with a comparison of the two . I am looking foranother performance upgrade so this might be it. Now i have hurd that the MEVI will not be a good mod enless i get a new ecu... what about the VI?? I have a Stillen Y pipe/Greddy SP CatBack/CAI/ACT Clutch/Stillen SHort Throw..... just wondering if a VI will give me some more power without losing some like the MEVI??

Thanks in advance

The VI hands down as far as the end result. The mevi won't require a custom install as the VI does though.

From all accounts the VI doesn't lose low/mid-range power while still gaining high end power. Honestly I would never even consider the mevi as the low end power is what I like best, but I would love to do the VI someday.

What I'd really like to see is a bolt on kit to adapt the VI without all the custom work (which I'm not sure I'm up to).

I brought this up in an earlier thread, actually when the 00vi and MEVI were compared for the first time or so. If someone like Custommaxima or $tillen or Courtesy Nissan could just make a conversion kit, to take out the fabrication factor, that they could market, it would benefit many people. They wouldn't even have to gather the actuall VI, even though they'd make more money...I don't know, maybe the fab. factor is keeping the 00vi to the die hard performance enthusiasts, which in a way, is a cool thing.

I didn't hear that, I only heard that it was an improvement over the loss of the MEVI, but I could be wrong.

I don't think a big player like that would even be necessary, just one of the people who's done the conversion...I would think they could make some good money off of it too. I'd probably be willing to spend as much as $750 (though maybe not at this time) for a full kit (with the VI included).

That's entirely possible. I think there are a few dynos floating around in the AM forum, but I don't really remember the results except that they didn't have a loss in low/mid at any rate.

I didn't feel any gains, but definantly no loss like the MEVI.

You can't feel any minimal gains. Just cause you can't feel it, doesn't mean it's not there.

Pardon my ignorance but what are MEVI and VI? I'm a bit new to the Nissan performance world and was curious to know. Thanx.

They're different types of variable intake manifolds for our cars. Read the FAQs for more on the MEVI and check out the all motor forum for more on the 2000 VI.

I am told there are still issues with the 00 VI. I am told there are occasional leaks, etc. As far as I can tell, only one part needs to be fabricated (after you buy the rpm switch, etc), but can we ever really say the 00 is a complete bolt-on? Not sure.
