when does it squeal/squeak? cold? warm? have you recently changed the belts?

whatever you do, DO NOT use WD-40 or any other belt lubricant b/c your belt will one day fly off w/o you knowing it.

Are you sure that the 2 belts are tight enuf? Sound like the belt is loose and not too tight. If your sure it's tight then remove the Alt, A/c belt to make sure that it is coming from that belt and not the Pwr Steering belt. If the squeeling is gone after removing the alt a/c belt spin the tensioner pulley for alt a/c check for noise. Then you may want to REMOVE the tensioner pully and soak it in WD 40. The pulley only never use it on a belt.

Let me give you some advice. DON't mess around witht he belt tensioner too much. Believe me, i know. The tensioner is very sensitive you can easily strip the bolt. Your belts are probably worn. Just get them replaced.

or like mine you might need to replace the main wheel. i can't think of the name for some reason. my belt had the same symptons. the replacement was $40 and a junk yard. i hope that isn't the prob but if it is it not that hard. but you better have an air gun and a lot of pb blaster.

sounds like i might have the same kind of problem. Its when i start my car it makes this crazy squealing noise and sounds like it get louder as you rev the engine but then it dies off after a few seconds. Its a pretty embarrasing noise. This just started happening during this winter. My other max a problem like this with the heater never found out what it was tho. (i never really tried either)

The sqeaky belts could also be from s/t dripping on it like maybe oil or coolant. You can check if it is sqeaking from this by cleaning up the belt. The easiest way to do it is take some toothpaste, and smear it on the inside of the belt in a few places (with the engine OFF). The abrasiveness of the toothpaste will clean it up right away, plus your engine will smell nice and minty. This is an old school trick that some old timer taught me.

My belts have started squeeking as well, but mostly only when its raining, and when its cold in the morning. I tried replacing my belts last weekend but I couldn't loosen the nut on the main pulley, it would just spin the pulley without the belt moving I might end up paying a stealership to do it...
