I was out and about, and thought i'd test out my car with this thing. Now, i was going 75 mph by the time the 0-60 flashed a weak *** 8 something, and then i was going about 95 when the thing flashed a 16.7 @ 85 mph.

They claim to be accurate within .001 second, but either my speedo is WAAAYYYYY off, or this thing just sucks?

 

well one or the other is messed up, it could very well be your speedo !! i tell you what you should do, go to a drag strip and test it out and see how it measures up to your timeslip

I used it when i went to the track last year, and it was pretty close to what the track times were. my best time was a 15.4 which is why i dont see a 16.7. I dont see how my speedo could be that off, but i guess its possible.

And sorry to hear about your Chariot man, thats messed up. Howd that turn out for you?

 

I used someone elses thing, it wasnt a Gtech, but same concept and it gave me something like 17.1. And I think its bs, because I would have to be the slowest moded max around. Ill be going to the track this spring.....

But, I did have a bad KS at the time, so it may have been in the ballpark

 

my car is running fine. when i saw 16.7, i almost threw up. I have I/Y/E for right now, and my car has been feeling faster than usual. I was almost sure id get a sub 7 0-60 and sub 15.4 1/4 mile. Ay yi yi

 

The G-Tech Pro (and other acceleromoters) are only good for comparison of data aquired with the device.

IE: If you make a test and record you #'s, and then make a change to the car and make another test, the difference between the #'s is what you care about.

The raw data is bumpus, but the comparison data is excellent.

The only time I used one, I used it at the track. It displayed 15.29, the track timed me at 15.35. I don't remeber the speeds. That's pretty close I guess...

 

You can test the accuracy of your G-tech by setting up for a quarter mile run and then quickly turning it vertically so that the accelerometer is measuring earth's gravity field (g = 32.17 ft/sec^2). The time to get to a quarter mile (1320 ft) under 1g of acceleration is calculated by:

t = sqrt(2*1320/32.17) = 9.06 sec

 

ahh it said i ran a 14 second quarter, and a 0-60 of 6 seconds i think they are garbage good thing i did not buy it and my freind just lent it to me,

 

Could be user error.

If you are on even a slight downhill incline, then you are going to get results that are affected by the component of gravity in the direction of motion. That is the primary cause of error. That and the fact that going dowhill also makes your car faster.

 

I have one, and i have alwase wondered the same thing everyone else is .... mine says im running a 14.2 @ get this 144.4 mph ???? i have never been to a track yet cuz i just turned 18 this year so.... o and my 0 to 60 is 6.2 idk..... but i will most definitly get to the track this spring and let everyone know how it goes .....

o my mods are the normal performance mods , stillen y pipe short throw shifter and CAI and a act clutch , Greddy SP catback, and NGK plugs

 

It's a pretty straight shot the road i was on. and going downhill would have made the car faster, cuz i've tried it downhill. if anything, the road was going slightly downhill. so i dont know...

 

I have never used the g-tech before, but wouldn't there be an error if the weight of the car was incorrect. Assuming that the g-tech requires a input weight?? If this is true than couldn't you play around with the weight of the car until it is calibrated to your speedo? Just a thought.

 

Well there is a lot that goes in affect with the GTech Pro. You have to calibrate it just right. Put in correct weight of car, Rev Limiter, and also rev it to the exact location when calibrating it. Plus it is running off your car cig. lighter so I'm assuming any extra power usage like your stereo would change the result of it as well ??

 

well, this is the first gtech im talking about, and i dont have to enter weight at all. The only time on this model you enter weight is when calculating horsepower. 0-60 and 1/4 mile times dont require it.

And i did have my stereo on, and i have my remote wire to my amp tapped into my cigarette lighter so do you think that would affect it?
