its sagging i think and i want to go out right now and unbolt itthen re position it, but i dont know if its a good idea to do this with just a ratchet and arm strength. i need to take the door off of the brackets, re align the brackets to compensate then put the door back up there? if this is totaly wrong pls tell me before i go!

 

If the hinges havn't been maintained they may have worn down and is now causing the sagging door. Check to see if you have any play in the hinges by trying to move your door up and down. If the doors hinge has play in it, it needs to be replaced.

You can unbolt the hinge from the body and the door and move it slightly to adjust it. A simple wrench should do just fine.

 

nope no real play in the hinge, its just that my door doesnt close as smoothly as all the others. u know what i mean? the lock part of the door doesnt meet up with the opposite pice [car frame] because the door pice is a tiny bit lower from sagging with the door. its not like i have to lift up every time i close my door but its nice not to hear clunking.

 

my drivers hinges are this way on both cars . bums me out cuz the sound of them shutting is so bad.

 

I re-aligned mine with a floor jack, a little piece of 2X4 and hand tools. I took off my fender too. It just made it so much easier. I dont think its possible to take the hinge off without taking the fender off. I am not sure though it was 3 years ago.

Just stabilize the door with the floor jack with the piece of 2x4 to prevent scratches. You can move it up and down as you need and then tighten or loosen the hinges just a bit. enough to move the thing up and down.
