This may be a dumb question but would a ecu from a 96 auto work in a 96 5 speed? i have 2 1996 maximas, auto ( parts car ) and 5 speed daily driver, but im lookin to send out the auto ecu to have it tweaked, and wondering if they are compatible, thanks

 

I think some people who did manual swaps still kept their ECU's. The only draw-back that they were aware of is a constant or intermediate Check Engine Light.

 

why don't you try the ecu in the car? since you have both cars there.... ....

 

It'll work; you'll just have a bunch of codes.
