Sporadic starting issue...coilpack? starter?

My car has an odd problem. Very rarely, it hesitates to turn over when I crank it. I have noticed that whenever it does happen, it is usually when the car was parked not much longer after reaching operating temperature, and then restarted shortly after (while it was still warm). You know, like going from home straight to a nearby gas station/movie store, parking it for 5 min. or less and then restarting. I then pump the throttle just a little while cranking and it starts right up. No problems while driving, btw.

And this has never happened on a cold engine; not even once.

An odd little issue, wouldn't you say? Could it be a coilpack beginning to act up or is it something else?

From: Skokie (look it up)
starter is getting old and heat soaked maybe?
put an ammeter (thing that measures amperage draw) on when you crank the car to check for excessive current draw

...how do u translate that?

Trying to:
1. Cranking speed is less than normal, or sporadic
2. Engine does not fire [no cranking problem]

Few of possible causes:
1. Starter, solenoid - as mentioned, and/or batt cable connections
2. O2 sensor, ign key switch worn, ign related contacts under hood.

Yes, it cranks just fine, but cylinders don't come to life. Starter seems like a good starting point. I wouldn't blame the ignition system as if that were the case, either it wouldn't have cranked or would have had low starting power. Battery connections are good as well. I am going to launch an all-out assault on it one weekend and try to figure out what's going on.

I really appreciate the input, guys. Thanks!

Then: 2. O2 sensor, ign key switch worn, ign related contacts under hood.

- O2. dunno.

- ECU has to get the ign on signal from ign key. Not heat related.

- ign related contacts under hood: warming increases resistance

- If pedal movement helps, TPS is dirty.

Huh? I am at a total loss. What the heck are you talking about/smoking? When did I flame you? What does my signature have to do with all this? Why would I get burned? You are making no sense!
