Hi Guys,

Im new to the board, but I have an extensive hostory with maximas:

95 GLE Gold Auto (ugly)
97 SE Midnight Blue Manual (my favorite max)
00 SE Silver Auto (tranny failed twice!)
01 GXE Silver Manual (short stint)
98 SE Brown Manual (300,000 KM!)

and now I own my sixth maxima. (BTW: my dad is a car dealer =)

Its a 2001 SE AE Blue on black with a manual.

Im having a problem with the car making noise, almost hissing or pinging when the engine is in 3rd, 4th or 5th gear at around 2000 rpm only. Also after a fast acceleration cycle, if I switch to neutral, sometimes it will stall. I have read some info here about detonation and I was hoping some people got the issue solved and maby have a solution.
