Im at work and we always type in caps and i forgot to shut it off...well as i said im at work so i have 11 more hours to kill up here so i went down to the garage and unhooked the battery. Ill go down in an hour or two and reconnect it, it was worth a shot even if it dosent work. If it does, and i put the K&N back in, then left the battery off for an hour BEFORE starting the car, is this the proper procedure to avoid these problems?

Definatly doesnt work. After my intake made the check engine light go on, we tried it and it never worked. Some cars it does, just not ours.

I had to have the computer reprogramed when the engine light would not go off. It read a code 6. It took like 45 min for the job to be done and I was not charged. Later Warren

You have to disconnect both terminals. Trust me. I just reset mine a month ago.

Maybe you just got lucky. We disconnected everything and it never solved anything.

It really depends on the code you end up tripping. Some of them are critical ones like the Airbags. If it was a MAF sensor you may or maynot be able to reset it. You can try disconnecting both leads and see what happens. I don't know if this will work or not. It's worth a try.

BTW autozone does checks for free...sometimes the guy is cool and can reset it for you.
