3gen tranny?

how tough is the 3rd gen 4-speed overdrive automatic transaxle?

People here tell that is sucks. Me newbie cannot accept that: if I understand right, easily starts slipping. Slippin trannies die all fast, does not matter what manufacturer it is.

One has to note that VGE 160hp has 7liter oil capacity, VE190hp 9liter with totally different tranny. To me this tells that VGE tranny has not been calculated for as big loads as VE tranny... =warning.

Now all Nissan electronics is wacky, and tranny &whatever solenoids starve in older cars due to long thinny wires and oxidized connectors. That can be overcome.

As the slipping is corrected, its a superbly functional box (if TPS is in specs) and work like an idea. It [not all] has slipping lock, plus the direct gearlock for 3 &4 which do really save gas on long trips.

VG = maxed out already
VE= potential is there, same trans as used in later maxs

i think the VG auto trans was also used in the stanza with the ka24 with somthing like 130hp
