Time for an Oil Change....

It's time for my '99 SE to get new oil and filter. There is a place near my house that charges $15 for an oil change. I figure this time, instead of them using their oil and filter, I'd get some of my own and bring it to the shop.
So basically, I'll be paying them $15 for the labor.

Which oil and filter is suggested for my Max(w/ no performance mods)?
It has 101,000 miles.
How much oil do I need to bring for an oil change? I've heard several numbers from members.

Where can I buy a bunch of them(both Oil and Filter) so that I can save some $$ for the future..

I use nissan filters and mobil-1 true synthetic. Read your owners manual, but I think it is 4 and 5/8ths quarts, so you'd need 5 bottles. I run 5w-30, as it is what is recommended for my climate (and your's too)

Why are you asking these elementary questions with 1,334 posts to your credit? Some of these oil change places may charge less if you bring in the oil and filter? What have you been doing up to now? Why don't you know how much oil your car takes? What kind of oil have you been using, etc. etc. There is something funny going on here!

I'm with rmurdoch, something is fishy. The guy has quite a few posts to be asking such newbie questions. I don't care how many bodykit questions or whatever he has asked before, eventually you ask oil changing questions within the first couple of months of ownership. I think someone is using a friends identity, and if so, he should say so. It's not a big deal but it's just funny, I've seen people get flamed for much less before.

Bottom line: read the stickies and DIY.

Then ask the other people first, I'm sure they can help you. Why don't you get your own account?

Some places that change oil dont let you bring in your own products for them to put in so you might wanna check with them first
