squeaking belt...
squeaking belt...
I have a 1997 Nissan maxima with 76,000 miles and my brand new belts are squeaking. The mechanic adjusted my belts many times but the problem still persists. He tells me it's a problem with a pooley. I was wondering if I can spray some WD-40 to solve the problem. It's especialy bad when it is moist outside. Car only makes the noice for a few seconds, then the noise stops. When the engine is hot car makes no noices when I start-up the engine.
Any ideas?

Hell no WD-40 is a lubricant which would make your belt slip. Get some belt dressing from napa or something and spray a little bit on your belt while car is running. Before doing this you might want to rinse/clean the belts. Just put the hose in there while the car is off. Let it dry fully before spraying belt dresssing on it
WD-40 on the pulleys.... I never did and my belt squeeks loud all the time

WD-40 might work. It might make it worse. I used belt dressing spray before and it makes the belts a little sticky. It worked for me once. Didnt work the 2nd time.
Worth a try. I wouldnt change any pulleys. Nothing bad to live with a little belt squeak for 30 seconds every day.

Those late 80s toronados were TANKS! Was it a Trofeo?
I cant believe GM killed Olds. It was the best quality GM car at a reasonable price.
WD 40 worked for me once. My belt didn't fly off. I wouldnt use it again though.
