rear 5th gen rotors/calipers to 6th gen upgrade
Well we've all been tlaking about the front 6th gen rotors and calipers that will fit the 5th gen (mine will be on next week with any luck)....but has anyone looked into whether the 6th gen REAR rotors/calipers will also work? I'm not sure how big the 6th gen rear rotors are vs. the 5th gen, but the rear brake upgrade would be a good idea to keep factory brake balance when upgrading the front...
any thoughts? anyone tried it? anyone know the rear rotor size of the 5th gen vs. 6th gen?

wow thats weird...i was just thinking the same EXACT thing last night...i was wondering why everyone upgrades their front brakes but never the rears...would there be any reason why the 6th gen brakes WOULDNT work on our 5th gens?
would they bolt directly up, or would an adaptor bracket (ala Matt Blehm) be required
would the ebrake cable attach correctly...
granted front brakes do about 65% of the braking, but keeping the brake bias as-is would be preferable (as the front-only upgrade changes the brake bias to roughly 70-30)
this sounds like a project for someone NOT named Irish44J....I have to work on my house for a while once the 6th gen front brakes are on....wife said "no more money on the car until the kitchen floor is re-done"

cant wait to get a REAL job...SUPPOSEDLY the school im planning on going to (RIT) puts you in a job that pays 600 bucks per week, but that'll be too late, cuz then i'll have to put all my money into books/tuition/living expenses....looks like im in a lose/lose situation when it comes to modding my car
does the 6th gen has IRS? Not sure if it would be different if it didn't have a beam setup.
also IIRC, the 6th gen features a hub type e-brake like the rwd Z/g35's, etc. It would probably involve just as much work as matt's kit for fabrication to convert our e-brake into a hub type one

maybe it would be more productive to do a partial switch (i.e. 6th gen rotor with our stock 5th gen caliper) via brackets (like the blehmco "regular" kit....hmm...I'm gonna have to do some research at some point.

its like a drum brake, it holds outwards from the inside of the rotor hub.
easiest way to up the rotor size while using the same caliper could be to find a larger nissan rotor that uses a cable type e-brake or custom make a bigger diameter rotor and a small bracket to relocate the caliper
