WTF My Max is GHEY

Hello, I was at full throttle, pedal pressed all the way, going up a long, fairly steep hill today. I do not know what speed I was at. Couldn't of been more than 70. All of a sudden the engine like bogged down and the tachometer dropped. I stepped on the pedal again after about 2 seconds and it seemed normal as I accelerated. I was like "WTF, this thing is a piece." to my friend in the passenger seat. I felt like a phagget.

I got up to speed without shifting gears with my Automatic, manually. And Overdrive was ON.

Was I just experiencing the "Speed Limiter" on my GXE? But, I thought that was only at 120 mph.

Okay, okay I will never ra...I mean speed again...

Thanks...Aaron

i experience similar things.. if i'm going like 70 and put the pedal to the floor sometimes it waits for a long time.. then the rpms drop really low and then jump really high. I think my auto tranny is telling me its starting to bite it, i think you might be experiencing the same thing.

I think its cause the 4th gen auto has a really high 4th gear. You probably shifted into fourth. Try the same thing with the OD off(disables 4th gear).

or maybe you had low gas, and going up the hill caused that problem. when i was low on gas, and the light was on, i was trying to make it to the gas station, and the same symptoms occurred.

HAHAHA, I was joking.

Wow your right. I was low on gas. My light wasn't on, but I think it's out. That probably was it. I went to the gas station right after. I'll have to try it again tomorrow and with OD OFF. It was just weird.

What octane were you running? 85 would do it. England had a gas called two star (out of four) so cheap. Put it in the Micra and the thing wouldn't go past 60 miles an hour with it, downhill even.

Your post doesn't make a whole lot of sense. You already had your foot to the floor, then you stepped on the pedal again? That implies you let off at some point...when did you let off? If you let off from WOT she's definetly going to try to shift into 4th (O/D) at those speeds (above 72mph, only 3rd and 4th are available). I don't quite understand what happened and what the problem is. My GXE Automatic has never had a problem bogging on hills. Please provide a better description.

Oh how I wish.

MaxKlinger - Yes I did let off after the rpms lowered.

I do think it was the gas in the tank. I was pretty low on gas.

Running with 93 octane.
