questions about adding used oem sunroof to gxe w/o one...

i was wondering if i could get all the parts from another parts car max/i30, how much would it be to get installed on average? i've always heard aftermarket sun/moon roofs leak but since this is stock, and as long as it would be installed correctly, i wouldn't imagine it would leak. this is just an idea so don't be too harsh here, just wondering. even though people have swapped their own engines and done all sorts of crazy stuff, i don't really think it's safe or maybe even possible to do something like this myself...but then again who knows. any comments/suggestions/thoughts?

also, please keep this a NC17 thread and newby free.

Hey JephT.. Well, I would guess anything is possible. If people swap transmissions and the like, why not add a sunroof? The only obvious downsides would be cost and who would do it?

I have a complete sunroof (with one broken cable) that I can make you a deal on.

Shipping would be a bummer, though.

I'm in Asheville, NC.

Peace,
Kevin

You'll need the headliner also.

It can't be done.

The roof pannel is completely different on a sunroof equipped car.

You can put an aftermarket unit in there, but definately not an OEM unit.

It's going to be easier and cheaper to put in OEM, and it won't leak if you get the work done at a decent place. I've had 2 sunroofs installed in 2 different cars and neither leaked.

im not going to say its impossible, but its just not worth it. i install aftermarket sunroofs and i have seen some horribe jobs from other installers, just do your research if you want one and find an aftermarket installer with credentials/experience/references. our shop price approx 1100$ with one touch open/close/vent/auto close (when car is turned off roof closes auto.) webasto hollandia 700 series sunroof, i would strongly reccomend staying with webasto hollandia and staying away from asc.

Don't do it!! Being a hardtopper is rare!!! I wish I didn't have a moonroof. All that weight at the worst possible location.
