dealership nonsense

my local dealership told me that advancing the timing will take just about an hour if not more even after i told him the step by step process i read here on the org. he told me that yes that process is simple and takes that long but its checking to make sure that everything else is ok after changing the timing that takes forever. So i guess changing my timing has gone out the window because i cannot just drop $80+ like that.
