86 Maxima will start but will not accelerate

Help. I have a 1986 Maxima with the v6 (3000) engine.
It will start just fine, but when attempting to accelerate, it decelerates then dies. I have tried all the usual stuff... changed plugs, wires, distributor and rotor. Also have changed the fuel pump, throttle position switch, injector regulator.
The car is really turning into a money pit... Any ideas?

How far does the motor rev? Does it go past 2000? Likely you have a bad MAF. You might pull codes, and check how far the engine revs to confirm.

Alright, looks like your MAF is toast.

have you changed the fuel filter?. I had an old landrover that run fine at idle, but when I brought the revs up it would stall. It's just a thought
Cheers

Dont forget to check your air filter. It may not be causing this issue but could contribute to it if it is old.
