new muffler...

new muffler...

i want to just get a new muffler to leave w/ the stock exhaust.. the current muffler is rotted away... whats a good muffler to get? I dont want a stock one i want an upgraded/performance... will an after market muffler fit on the stock mid pipe?

There's no such thing as a "performance" muffler. They yield about .2 HP which is undetectable. You could get a stock on and get a tip welded on there.

Any suggestions if you don't need a muffler to last 8 years but need it to last about a year? I found that my factory muffler rattle is due to the outer shell being almost gone and the hook......

Prices on the factory parts at 30% discount were $175 for the muffler, $20 for the tip, and get this......$199 for the intermediate pipe. Lucky my car has CALI emissions which is cheaper. But those prices are way high, I mean we're talking almost $400 for factory parts with a 30% discount. I'm not sure what the $199 includes but it better include the front muffler (I don't think it does) because it's nearly $100 more than a Sentra int. pipe. Pretty ridiciculous, huh? This is a 1998 Maxima that sells for under 5 grand, not a 2006 BMW.

if i go to nissan and want to buy a new stock muffler... wont i be charged a lot for it... am i beter off gettin something like magnaflow or anything?

I just deleted my muffler & added a magnaflow tip....sounds sweet!

I HAD just an apexi N1 on mine, and it made it sound alittle bit better and all that great jazz...its nice...but now I have a 2.5" pipe added onto it.
