new system conflict with Bose

i called around just now and theyre saying that i might need to have a huge re-wiring job done because the stock set up goes through the Bose amp...he said i would new speakers too. something about the Ohms bieng too low and if i where to use them they would be almost inaudible. i have a Clarion deck, all the wire, the mounting bracket, big amp, big box with 2/12's....
has anybody had this problem with their systems?? what did you end up doing?

Try the audio forum where Dr. Pearl96max would be able to answer your question.

crutchfield.com has harnesses to replace your stock bose HU with an aftermarket one, it's about $30 i think. Anywayz, once you get this harness hooked up, you can route the subs and their amps through your aftermarket HU. Stock bose speakers work fine with this harness conversion. The harness has setting dials built in for all four speakers to accommodate the factory amp!

damn...it looks like a realy good idea because then i wouldnt need to buy a whole new speaker system..
but when i go to installation details and go through the make year etc, it says that this product doesnt fit my car
"Installation Details for your 1999 Maxima

» This item does not fit your vehicle. "
that sucks! oh well :\
so the main problem is...if i get rid of the Bose HU and AMP and try to use the Bose speakers with anything else..they wont make much sound?
i also look at the crutchfield Wire harness for my make, went to order...and its only in US. BLAH@
this is such a pain in the ***!
im in canada btw

anybody know how their systems wher hooked up?

if the impedience of the clarion deck is 4 ohms, then it will be a problem. but if it is 1ohm, then it will work flawlessly.

you can get a pac-oem1 to solve this problem easily.

decks aren't rated rated or specified by impedances, however they do allow a certain range of speaker inpedances that can be connected to them. most car audio speakers have an impedance of 4 ohms. where as the bose speakers have a 1ohm impedance. imo i wouldnt drive bose speakers other than with a bose headunit. they work beautiful together.

whatever anyone tells you about getting your aftermarket HU to work with your bose speakers and/or amp. Don't do it. Sound may come out noticably loud and clear. but if you know your audio... you'll know it not as clear/crisp and deep as with the original bose system. basicly your audio will sound distorted thought the entire frequncy range...

i would have kept the Bose Headunit if it had thoes audio plugs for an amp...
thats the only reason i bought a clarion HU..
i wonder why it's so incompatible

The reason for the incompatibility is that on the bose system, the lines running from headunit are actually running into an amp, each speaker has it's own amp, furthermore, it is a balanced line signal, meaning the + and - are both carrying an active signal each carrying the reverse of the other, the amp analyses the signal and is able to correct for interference by comparing the negative to the positive and balancing them so that the sum of the signals is 0, it then uses the corrected frequency curve as the true signal, it's called active equalization. Most amplifiers on the market today use neither this, nor the 1 ohm impedence that is present in the bose stock system, if you want the best sound from an aftermarket, you're should replace everything. If you want the best sound, but don't want to lose any part of your bose system then you should use the stock parts only, sorry, that's just the way it goes... By comparison, my mother's car, a Chrysler Concorde with Infinity factory sound was simple to rewire even though it was a 2 ohm system, the HU was wired to a four channel amp which was in turn wired to the various speakers and crossovers in the car, all I had to do was replace the HU, amp, crossovers, and components, the wiring was all very robust (suprising for a factory system, even a premium option one). Personally, I like my Bose system and cant really see myself changing out for something else, not until I can afford one of those Kenwood Excelon doubleDIN in dash screens anyway.

He's right there is an adapter ffor that. It's call ROEM-NIS2...I bought this when I was going to install a dvd/cd player with my microvision tv. I don't know the specifics of it but you need this in order for the bose system to be compatible with an aftermarket hu. It cost about $60.

This guy replaced his bose hu with an aftermarket one. Here's the link that you should read about his experiences:
