how do u remove the back seat?

i am installing sound deadening material in my Max and was thinking of a way to insulate behind the back seat...should I remove it or just insulate the inside of the trunk?

To uninstall backseats are simple. Two clips at the base of the seat, 4 bolts at the corner, two in the middle

mabye its different on the 97-99, but on the 95/6 its the two tabs you have to pull out under the bottom of the seat to release the clips, and then two 10mm screws on the bottom corners on the rear section.

if your installing sound deadening mat., whats the reason for doing it? is it just to quiet the ride in the cabin, or to benefit a stereo system? if you just want to quite the ride, id say go for doing behind the seat. if you have a system, i wouldnt do it. mabye just do the wheel wells behind the seat instead. the mat will also deaden your bass from traveling inside the cabin.

I am primarily doing it to deaden the road noise, with the added benefit of being able to enjoy the stock bose on the highway better, I've already done the doors and that has really helped...

I believe searching the forums for questions you have is what all the old timers preach, correct? well the question I had was asked but never answered so I "bumped" it, and in no time my it was.

Thank you.
