Valeo Projector HID retro? (pics... if you have dial-up twiddle your thumbs)

I'm wondering if anyone with halo projectors, knows what diameter the projector lenses are. I'm thinking of purchasing some Valeo ECE projectors with d2s 4300k capsules. I want to do a retro.. or find someone that will help me with it.. but i'm really scared about opening up the headlamp housing.... HID with valeos just looks soo damn sweet. I know DR. Roy has done an mdx mod, but i prefer the cutoff, color, and sweetness of the Valeos as opposed to the cheaper halogen mdx projectors... retro will definitely look way better than even the 2k2 headlights. Take a look at these pics of valeo projectors (ECE):

great cutoff....

like a knife through butter... soo sweet

This looks soo much cleaner than max 2k2 crappy headlights (which on hidforum.. they say are some of the worst reflector based hid available..)

Are there currently any other 5th gens out there with Valeos or retro HID projectors on the .org? (Besides Dr. Roy) Any advice or comments on my plans.. let me know.
P.S. HIDFORUM.COM is Amazing!!! learn lots there.. seems like too many .org members hate on the projectors, when all they need is a good retro.. and in the end.. will look better than 2k2 and perform WAYYYY better. just my .02 after being on the hidforum.

p.p.s look forward to project pics

i think VALEO's will fit will fit and actually i'm thinking of getting A6 ECE projectors for my car if i get the projectors. the d2s will give you a really nice cuttoff and beam pattern. it's expensive but it will be a very good investment. i'm not sure if the A4 valeo's are better than the A6 D2S projectors.i'm going for the D2S valeo A6 projectors. good luck with your projectors and post some pics. BACE!

The lenses by itself are 3 inches. I dont think the work involved will be too bad if you consider the outcome. If you think about it, this retrofit will be a lot better than buying the stock 2k2 headlights since those go around $600. The valeo kit on HIDPLANET is what... $450 tops complete? The projectors are $250 shipped so that means you are getting soemthing soooo much more.

Opening them up isnt hard at all, just takes some muscle. I mean, if you really want to do this nicely, there has to be some DDE's from umnitza that would fit into the projector lights.

I installed projector headlights, they look cool but the light output is like from flashlights. I replaced the H1 and H3 bulbs with HID xenons but it didn’t help much. I have to do something with the high beam. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

And from the pictures I see theres a lot of gap between these lights and the stock bumper once installed. They way I look at it (I know I said before)
$220 (ebay projectors)
$200 (guessing, HID projectors to retrofit)
$300 (Actual HID kit)
Thats a total of $700. Might as well buy some 02's and black house them as they fit 10 times better. And you can spend a bit more and get the angel eyes to install..I just think they look a lot better.

Actually they fit OK. I can’t see any difference from the OME.
The problem is the light output and the beam pattern.

Only 02/03's will have a gap near the bumper when installed.

like i said.. they're not as good as 2k2... but with a retrofit they blow 2k2's away. I prefer the look and cutoff beam pattern of a true projector HID system. which is what sucks about the 2k2.. i think nissan messed up when they put reflector HID in the 2k2 instead of projectors.. then i could avoid having to do a project like this in the first place... everyone on this forum thinks that their 2k2 hids are superior..... Well, yes they ARE superior to previous model headlights, but in comparison to most HID systems which utilize projector optics.. the 2k2 headlights are crap.... I'm not dissing on 2k2 headlights, i just want the ultimate functionality of HID.. and in order to get the most out of HID i'm using Valeo ECE clear projectors with OSRAM D2S capsules (standard on audi A4's) i'm also using genIII phillips ballast. All i'm saying is that i prefer the look and cutoff of projectors... as well as the look of the ****ty ebay housing.. i wish nissan had made it easier for us that want REAL quality lighting...

i can't believe there's only three or four 5th gens on this entire website with retro-ed HID's in their max. when i finish this (or start it) i will definitely be one of very few people in the world with a retro-fitted HID projector 5th gen.... This gives me more motivation... i guess me and Dr. Roy and Phyxblu are the only ones excited by the look of a clean cutoff.. a great colorband.. even distribution and the beautiful look of 4300k capsules on the road ahead......

dr roy has a good write up on replacing the LEDS on the angel eyes to make them a lot brighter, doesnt cost much either, and the projector is going to be open already too.

at least stardust sees my point.... its not that 2k2s suck.. it's that projectors are the ultimate hid illumination.... i'm doing this because i want the best lighting possible.. it's actually easier to retrofit these crappy ebay projectors than retrofit 2k2 reflectors..... watch and learn ladies..... hahaha

very true....

anyways, i believe the beam pattern of the 2k2 is EXCELLENT! much better than every car i've been in (although i havent been in any cars with HID projectors)....i've been in a car with halogen projectors and they were absolute crap...i dont think the 2k2 HIDs are "crap" as you listed above (which btw, IS a dis in my book) and i think they put a considerable amount of light on the road that in comparison to retrofit HID projectors, i would take any day because of the MUCH MUCH MUCH better look! just my .02

That's why the 2004 have projectors. But I don't know well they work.
