Bose Repair from Stickies

http://madchef.5u.com/maxima/bose/fixes.html

Has anyone actually done this? I am getting the CD err message and I have a couple questions before I tackle the project.

It says I have to replace all the resistors in order to fix the problem.

In this pic, he is replacing a surface mount resistor.

How do I do that? The only resistors I ever see are a small tube with 2 wires on them, easy enough to replace.

those are surface mount resistors used commonly in comercial electronics. You can get them from www.digikey.com. There are 2 major things you need to know, the resistance value, 500 ohms, 1k ohms, so on, and the size. I can't really tell from that picture but I would guess they are either 1210 or 1812. Not sure how long this link will work but this is the search page for digikey, just put in the values you need and the results will show up:
