stock bose amp bypass writeup please

stock bose amp bypass writeup please

can someone provide a step by step write up on how to bypass the front and rear bose speaker amps? I need to install aftermarket speakers but i dont know how to bypass the amps. i have a 91 se

It may be on Craig Brace's home page but all you have to do is cut the wires going into the amp. There are 4 wires, 2 are thicker than the others (red and black) these are the power wires and you can keep them hooked up, no need to cut them. The other 2 wires are speaker wires. One is pos and one neg. I am unsure of which is which but you can hook up a volt meter to find out. That's how I did it. The back will take about 5 minutes to do, just get into the trunk. For the front ones you have to take off the door panel and take out the self contained speaker/amp setup and work from there. Check out Craig's page it's very helpful.

You CAN do that, but I figured after spending $10 on a wire harness and another $15 on an antenna adaptor, I would save the extra $15 and do it myself.

if you do need it, let me know. by the way, it costs $30 brand new. mine was used for a week before I decided to replace the HU.

That adapter doesn't bypass them, it reuses them so you can use the stock bose speakers with a new head unit. IMHO it works like crap.

yeah, usually the amps suck more than the speakers with the stock bose.
