holy Maxima exhaust!

I am the original owner, and since I was doing the oil and tire rotation, I decided to take a peek as to why my exhaust is rattling.
  1. sleeve behind flexible pipe in front of cat is broken
  2. bracket at front of cat is broken
  3. bracket at rear of front muffler is broken

The fact that the rear muffler is all coming apart in its outer layer doesn't seem to matter. It seems pretty structurally sound despite its appearance.

Amazing that 105k does all that to the exhaust, which is not cheap.

One of the biggest problems with maxima, imho, is that the integrity of its parts is no better than a Sentra (don't agree, look-up exhaust parts for Nissan showing all models). That's why it's not a car that offers value. But yes, it does have a fairly good motor that will probably last forever.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity for a nice aftermarket exhaust replacement.

I think my exhaust held up pretty good, but Im in Texas. I put 195,000 miles on it and only replaced it cause I wanted to.

My motor certainly did not last forever...had a severe oil burning problem and the dealership was forced to change it under warrenty. I know a few other guys with this same problem as well.

My 95 SE has 138k miles and the entire exhaust system still looks good, nothing coming apart. How did that happen on yours?

I have 62k on mine...Take a look at my cardomain page, and see for yourself what new england weather can do to an exhaust in 8 years.

Actually I'd like factory but even with a discount it's too expensive. Sounds like the next Mel Brooks Broadway smash, "Too Expensive Even with a Discount."
