Rough Idle and Stalling - NEED HELP PLEASE

Ok, I read through some other posts about similar problems but haven't been able to figure this out.

Facts:

I have a 1999 Max, 5spd, Cali spec.
101,000 Miles on it...
Original Coil Packs
Plugs 20K miles old.
O2 sensor code off and on for awhile, now the light never comes on.

Problem:

After the car warms up (few minutes after starting) it idle rough, up and down on the tach (300-700rpm) When I drive it runs fin, UNTIL i come to a stop and depress the clutch. This is when it stalls, 30-40% of the time. There are small putters from the exhuast, but nothing major. Power is fine, milage the same as always also....

PLEASE HELP!!

Thanks.

on a guess, i'd say coil packs. 99s are well known for their troubles.

You've mentioned coil packs in your post so I would assume you leaning towards the coils also To test which coil isn't firing, unplug each fuel injector connecter harness one at a time and see if your idle changes. If you pull on and it doesn't show a difference, more than likely its that coil that needs replacing. Coils aren't hard to replace, its just one step easier than changing a spark plug, although more costly.

Otherwise, get out the multimeter, pull back the rubber boot on the connection near the MAF, and check the voltage. A faulty MAF can also cause poor idle as well.

Thankfully, 95-99 MAF's are the same part #'s, so if it is your MAF, you could just find one from a junkyard off of any year (assuming its in good shape).

Specs:
Engine off -> -1.0volt
Engine idle at operating temperature -> 1.0-1.7volt/s
Engine at/near steady 2,500rpm -> 1.5-2.1volts

It should have a linear voltage rise on up. If it doesn't, check the power the ground circuits.
