'93 Bose vs. aftermarket Sony CD Player

I would like to get a little better understanding about ohmage differences between the stock BOSE speakers/amplifiers and the HU. Are the speaker wires that come from the HU already amplified?

Can I damage the Bose amp and speakers bu replacing the HU? How so?

I know Bose is trash and I am in the process of replacing them with aftermarket paraphernalia.

Thanks, and pardon me for the last post about the speaker sizes on the '93 Max.

Also, can I use the Bose amplifiers on the rear to push a pair of Pioneer TS-A6960R?

the bose will damage your head unit. take it all out and just run the speakers off your headunit. use the smaller wires that go to your bose amps for bypass. cant remember what is pos or neg but you can do it one way and if its not right do it the other way just dont turn it up loud. bose is 2 ohm.

the stock bose uses a modified line level output to the amps. and the speakers themselves are 1 ohm.

If you are going to replace the BOSE BS, then this info will help

These are the signal wires FROM the HU
purple wire = IN+
yellow wire = IN-

for the front:

Red=Speaker's +
Green=Speaker's -

for the rear:

Black w/ white stripe=Speaker's +
Black w/ red stripe=Speaker's -

So, as I am going to use just the 6x9s for now, I can just use the wires that go into the Bose amp and pull them to the speakers. I am also going to unplug the door speakers. Is that the best solution for now?

Thanks, guys.

Why? What is wrong with Sony? I haven't had any problems with it. Also, the previous owner bought it and put it there. I ain't taking it out.
