2000 Maxima GXE 5-speed w/ 700 miles...100% STOCK!!!....

Just got back from NIRA/Toyo Tires Import Event @ Old Bridge Twp Raceway Park in New Jersey (AKA: E-town)....

Here's what i ran...tell me what you think:

BEST E.T.:

R/T: .773, 60': 2.236, 1/8th mi: 9.622 @ 72.97mph, 1/4 mi: 14.936 @ 93.59.

OTHER E.T.'s: 14.969 @ 92.98, 15.092 @ 92.73, 15.126 @ 92.57

Pretty Consistent, huh!! My WORST run was STILL quicker than what Motor Trend rates the 2000 Max SE 5speed at!

BTW: My car weighs 3425lbs w/ a 6'6" 295 lb driver. =)

Thanks For The Space!!

Good runs! You are pretty much spot on what I have run this past summer in my 2k SE. But, I havent run in cool weather yet (Im in Tampa). My best is 15.02 @ 93.7 with a 2.32 60 foot.
I also weighed my car, and it came in at 3200 lb with no gas and no driver. With a tank of gas and me in it, Id be pushing 3500 lb and Im only about 190 lb. I guess the SE's are heavier than the GXE's? How much gas was in your tank?

Glad to see another Maxima owner excited about his car! Im new to the Max scene ( a VW convert), so Im still learning about these cars myself.

Yeah, even a 14.9999999 counts as a 14! Entry into the next "club" has been gained! Im just waiting for a nice cool night with the Y-pipe and CAI and try to bust into the 14.5 range on street tires. Should be possible.....

Those runs were with.....

just under 1/2 tank of fuel + 295lb driver...

i only use Sunoco Ultra 94 octane gas...but i don't think that has anything to do with it...

probably has something to do w/ my experience w/ drag racing hi-powered FWD cars (446HP 96 Civic)...

I was into Hondas for the past 5 years and after blowing NUMEROUS motors, trannys, axles, etc....I just got sick of all the B.S. associated w/ that money pit!....my plan w/ the Maxima is to KEEP IT SIMPLE...
(rims, sus, and a safe 300-350HP is all i want...)....

Nice job!

With Y Pipe and intake you should be in the mid 14's. Nice driving. I'm a big guy too... 6-2, 275. Got to go on a serious diet to drop my ET's. LOL.

My 87SE is 3210lbs without me and 3355lbs with me. The 3210lbs was with 3/8 tank of gas and no removal of anything. I'm 5'9" and 148lbs, I'm sure I can knock off about 1-2 tenths off all ya'lls best times . I should also mention my moms 90 civic sedan weighed 2280lbs without me and 2420lbs with me.

2K2DEMAX-

I usually go to DeSoto in Bradenton. We should hook up sometime and head down. We could get a group of Maxs together and have some fun.

As far as dynos, If you are free around 500PM today, come to Spec R Tuning (813.910.7235) on Nebraska just north of Fletcher. I am dynoing there along with another 2k Max. We are both 5 speeds and stock. Ive dynoed before, but am redoing it now to use as a baseline for future mods.

Post back if you can meet tonight! Itd be cool to have 3 Max's there!

Nice job at the track, I ran when I was stock and got the exact same as you, 14.9... @ 95mph. All I have now is an intake but I'm planning to run again this fall to see if there's any effect.

Madmax2k: post your dyno chart, I'm sure everyone would like to see it!

The dyno plots (as jpgs) are coming manana. But for now, suffice it to say that both bone stock 2k 5 speed Maxima SE's put down, amazingly enough, the same hp and torque! Multiple (three) runs were done with each car with the result being about 193 hp/191 ft lb at the wheels. Runs with the engine cool and hot varied only slightly. Ill post the charts tomorrow.
