question on intakes

Ok, so i'm thinking about getting the berk intake but i have a question that i have not seen asked yet. Does this affect in any way my MAF. I just replaced it and i was reading further down their page about a diff intake for the 04-05 that has a diff material so that it does not affect the MAF.

So if i get a berk intake on my 2k max do i have to worry about that?

One of the guys here on the .org just installed on on his 2000. His name is SammzWay. You can PM him. He installed it and no problems whatsoever. Also you can ask Cobymoby. I don't know if he's running a deal on it, but he did post a GD a long time ago. He's a cool dude also. I was supposed to meet up with SammzWay to install my Berk on my 2001, but my job got in the way. I'm worried out the MAF also, but if you're careful, you won't have a problem.

I've had the Berk on my 02 for about 5-7k miles now (I forget) but no problems with the MAF so far... its a touchy thing... but both people with aftermarket intakes and people with the stock airbox have had issues with it... I mean, an intake would probably increase the risk, but I know tons of people on the .Org other than myself who've never had a problem with it...

And yeah, talk to Sam about it, and there was another guy who did it recently, NJDevil210 I think, who did it too...

umm, from previous read posts, Apex filter is the best way to go (than the K&N filter) with the Berk Intake with no worries to the MAF, seems the filter makes a difference.

i've had berk for 1.5 years now.. with k&n.. and i've reoiled it twice.. .. i've had no issues with maf
the reason for maf doing out is of "over oiling the filter"...

had it for almost a year. maf is not affected by the intake, however, seems like it was f-ed up from the first day I got the car. so don't worry, get the intake. Get Berk so you might have some money left over in case you need to replace maf as well

you reuse the filter. you can get a "recharging kit" that contains a cleaning solution and oil to re-oil it after you clean it. its the oil that traps the dirt

you can get them from any auto parts store and i think they cost around $20
there is a schedule of when you are supposed to do it. it says on the box. i just do mine when it starts to look dirty

Yeah, I just did my intake and i've been driving my car all over i've had no issues so far. And as far as MAF goes, my MAF already blew when I had my stock setup. Installing an intake is barely the cause for your MAF to fail, specailly for us 5th gen. I've had millions of discussion with Bryan (cobymoby) and bunch of other ppl here because I was also scared of my MAF dying. I remember, Bryan told me my maf would go regardless of intake or not, and that's exactly what has happened. Anyway, I got a new maf now and everything is running perfectly. Also i'm gonna be helping Andrew with his intake one of these days when he gets time and the weather is nice.
If you're scared of re-oiling k&n go with Apexi filter..

Also- thanks to Puppetmaster and Irish for their help with diagram and stuff for the installation of the intake. You guys ROCK!!

Next I'm gonna be bugging soonrfan about his Ypipe cuz thats my next step.
