SLOW acceleration on 2000 GLE
SLOW acceleration on 2000 GLE
OK here is the deal:
I have a 2000 GLE Max, and I have noticed a very lagging acceleration, even when I floor it. It seems that at a light or something, every other car accelerates faster than my car, even old mini-vans. I have 42000 miles on the car that I bought pre-owned with 31000. I have always seemed to have this problem, its just been bugging me recently. The car takes like 10 seconds to hit 60, and once it does, it runs perfect. On highways, there is no problem at all. In fact, most people probably would not even realize there is a problem. There may not be, I may be nuts. Thanks to anybody that can help out.
PS... Somebody already suggested the MAF sensor, how would i know if it is messed up? I have an appointment with NISSAN for their free 100 point inspection, will they check the MAF sensor?

I'm not sure what they will check in their 100 point inspection... just call em and ask em...
I am pretty sure that I can rev the engine beyond 2500 RPM, and once I start moving, I have no problem getting her up to 80. People with the 2000 Max, is it suuposed to be able to jump out of the starting gate, or perhaps I am exprecting too much from the car.
ye i feel the same way as you. my car is slower than most cars on the road and my car is completely dead between 2K-3K RPM.
i will be ordering an MAF soon. i really hope it helps. Since i got my car used i really dont know how fast it should feel

Sounds like my problem.. I figured it was the MAF so I called my local stealership and they said that the last time it was in they found an "airflow meter" that needed to be replaced for $213 including labor. Is this the same thing as the MAF?

From the FAQs:

Get the MAF sensor. I just replaced mine at 98K miles and it is running with the power it had when I first bought it. Actually, it is running better since I put the Cold Air Intake on...either way, you will get a lot of power back if you replace it.
I think I have the same prob. But I already replaced my MAF about 10k miles ago. New spark plugs and new ignition coils.. Could that MAF go bad? I wondering whats the warranty on it from dealer, and is there a way to test MAF with multimeter, or something else.?
Thanks
Thanks
