hey guys question about gas milage going to crap

hey guys question about gas milage going to crap

92 se 200k on it and now my gas milage is going into crap land....any ideas what to ck first.....

O2 sensor would be my first choice.

Internetautomar's would be fuel injector (his solution to everything hehe)

air filter clean?

no its the girl's car i drive the 97 but her foot is not heavy -like mine- i ck'ed the plugs and they re good. she went from the mid 20's to mid teen's....not sure what else to look for..she and i cant afford this at this rate 2.59 for reg around here at chevron......

it could be a injector on it's way out, or you might need to get a fuel injector cleaning.

put in a new air filter.. $6 to $8 that can make a world of difference!

I would second Jeff's o2 sensor guess. That's all it is, though -- a guess.

I'd do fuel filter and air filter. Cheap and probably never had been done. Then consider a new 02 if it's been over 50k. New plugs if it's been over 60k. Then if it still runs like crap, then you are going to have to give a much better explaination. Also check for tire pressure. Low pressure can kill mileage also

... i changed my cone filter recently and i see a dip in gas millage despite my recent replacement of O2. but the car drives fine with good power.

i think it's because more air is being fed through the intake and the maf tells the ecu to dump in more gas to maintain f/a ratio and make more power.
