Over spring break the wife and I drove the 92 Aztec Red from Lawrence KS. to Tucson AZ and back. Her parents live there (They have owned two max's)so we went for some sun and golf. Had a lot of fun driving the car on the highway. Here is the car in their driveway.

Had a little fun with a guy in a Grand Prix in SW Kansas. He kept passing me and slowing down when I wanted to run at 85. He didn't want to go 120.
Anyway the whole trip was 2,622 miles and I used 105.4 gallons of gas for 24.88 mpg. The car was packed with stuff both ways and fought the wind both ways too. I cruised most of the time at 85. There was a stretch South of Albuquerque where I followed a lady in a Acura SUV for 100 miles with the cruise on 95.
It was a great trip and the max ran just great.

Cool. What was your route? If you were south of Albuquerque it sounds like you didn't take 40 all the way into AZ and then 17 south.

Past summer I drove 1,500 miles from NC to CO and back (via Chicago, so 700 additional miles). Then two weeks later, came back to Denver. Total mileage: 5,200. The car drove beautifully with amazing mileage.

 

I haven't driven my red Maxima any farther than Seattle (about 4 hours). However, my first Maxima (pebble beige VE 5-speed) I drove all over the western US. They are great highway cars, IMO.

Glad yours did well. Pretty surprising to most people that these cars are over 10 years old.

 

On the way there took 54 through ks, ok,tx and into NM. Took I40 to Albuquerque and I25 S. to a cutover on 26 to I10. Took the same way back except went north from Albuquerque past Las Vegas NM. to catch 56 and into KS. Drove through some bad snow that I wasn't expecting--that part sucked. 35-40mph and all white and blowing sideways for about 100 miles.

 

Eh, snow or otherwise, sounds like a fun trip!

 

What crossroad did her parents live at? Tucson was pretty cold last week...How did you like it here? Glad your max held up, I wish i would've seen you on the streets, it would've been game on!

 

They live north of town in Sun City Vistoso, not quite to Catalina. If you would have seen me it would have been on Miracle Mile or Oracle. I loved it there, have been to Tucson a number of times but this was the first drive.

 

yeah my family lives up there in Oro Valley, I'm down Oracle a few times a week, lemme know the next time you come.

I've never really driven *all* that far yet, but the 2.0hour trips up to Gainesville and back have been fun. I love coming back at like 3am and crusing at 95mph with the ride still smooth & quiet.
