Experiencing "valve chatter" under moderate to heavy acceleration. Any ideas?
I have been experiencing "valve chatter" under moderate to heavy acceleration. It seems more prominent when the engine is hotter and I am running the air conditioner. I use synthetic oil, K&N filter and always use premium gas in my vehicle. I ran the car this morning with no air conditioning and drove my usual 25-30 miles to work and it didn't rattle once. However, yesterday, I ran it around town with AC on and it was rather warm (80 degrees) and it rattled all the time. My vehicle has 103,000 miles on it as well.
Could this be that the oil is thinning out and it's not getting enough lubrication? Is it perhaps a problem with detonation (possibly bad gas)? I have also read somewhere that this may be caused by an EGR valve that may be sticking. This would probably cause the combustion chamber to heat up and the valves to rattle.
Anyone out there experiencing similar problems with their car? Are there any possible remedys for this problem?

hey bro...I think I may have the same thing you have...I dont think its your gas since you use premium... this is what you gotta do: take a screw driver and check your ecu manually...I did and got a 1005 code-which is the EGR something something...not sure the technical name...but it didnt trip my CEL light but I did pull it from the ecu... yeah my engine makes a loud gargle noise pretty much all the time... if you go to the how to section in the stickies theres a how to diagonse EGR problems with pictures...I agree with mzmtg...I bet its your EGR
