Well, around 2-3 weeks ago, we had some really bad rain storms here in NY, and my 2000 Max SE's trunk was filled with water. The floor panel carpeting was drenched, and half the spare tire was cover in rain water.

Yesterday, I took out everything from the drunk and let it dry, and drained the water out by removing the two small grommets. Afterwards, I tried to determine where the water was coming from. Originally I thought it was from poor weatherstripping around the trunk lid, but that was not the case. Evidentally, on both of my taillight assemblies, water is coming in from a very small hole in between the inner corners of the assembly (think of it as the top corners of the assembly which are towards the license plates), and water would go straight into the trunk.



I was thinking that I should take the taillights out, and line some kind of glue around the area so it'll make a seal between the taillights and the body of the car. Anyone recommend what type of glue I should use? Or have any better ideas?

Use clear urethane caulk. If the hole is small enough then any type of glue will work.
