Clutch making weird sound

Lately I dont know if it's me or the clutch isnt grabbing quite as hard as it used to...but when i press it in i hear a noise that sounds like your streching a spring like a creaking almost. I listsned for it and it sounds likes its coming from the moving part that you can see while looking into the engine bay. by the rubber boot i gues? anybody know what this is and how to fix it? Thanks.

Hmmmmmm....

I hope this problem wasn't caused by you teaching me how to drive 5-speed on your Maxima! Lol.

Dude, I love your Maxima. And thanks so much for fixing my Bose system and my door problem. I owe you!

Are you getting any power loss at the wheels? Does the clutch slip under sudden acceleration? Do you smell any "burning clutch smell"?

it's probably the springs in the center cartridge of the clutch disc, I hear them expand and compress sometimes, especially when it's cold, and when i'm pulling up my driveway. The thing on the bellhousing with the boot is the slave cylinder, it moves the clutch fork, which releases the pressure plate from the clutch disc. They can go bad, the only way you could tell though is if it was leaking, they don't make any noise when they go, except the groan of seeping fluid which you'd only hear right next to it. it's little more than a piston in a cylinder getting pushed by the fluid you moved with your clutch pedal, no power assist or anything, very basic mechanical. Unless you're experiencing slippage, harsh engagement/chattering, or if it makes noise all the time, i wouldn't worry about it. The first thing you'll notice is the car pulls less and/or lags for a second after shifting, or hard launches.

I don't know if I agree. I think Clutch ROCKS. Especially that new 'Live in Flint' double disc.
