Bass Drum/heartbeat noise coming from engine bay...normal? misfire? predet?

What's up everyone?
Today, I went under the hood of my car to replace my IACV to try to solve my idle situation (thanks kmax!), and after I got it installed, and was setting the idle, I heard a strange noise. A good analogy: it sounded like someone playing the drums. Every 1/3-1/2 of a second, there is a "beat" going on, like two bass drum hits close to eachother, followed by the sound of a snare drum. It repeats like that. For anyone who cannot understand that - it's like a heartbeat, in the same way. Is this a normal sound? Is this engine ping/knocking? Predetonation? Any speculation would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Lou
I forgot to say how loud it was...it was a very faint sound, and unless I was sticking my face into the engine bay, I couldn't really hear it.

This was originally posted in the general forums, but since it got 11 reads with no responses, I came here (and deleted the first one). It's funny, I thought it would get a better/broader response there. Anyway, this happened yesterday.

hey man,
im having the same problem.. i was wondering if it does not have something to do with the fuel filter(hadnt been replaced in a while) so i went to advance and got a replacement oil filter and proceeded to replace it.. well the hose had cracks etc...(the top one going to the fuel filter) so i sent a friend to get a replacement fuel hose from the auto store.. after installing the fuel line.. i get the heart beat but only on pickup.(the hose my friend brought back was a tiny bit smaller then the original but still installed perfect..) next step for me is to get the right size fuel hose and start the process over again id check your fuel filter/ fuel lines
good luck
