YOU BE THE JUDGE: Is a six step wash/wax cycle worth it? ***PICS***

I hadn't washed the Max since I purchased it back in August, so it was finally time for a bath. Now, I wondered...is a 6-step detailing cycle worth it? Let's find out! I will be going step-by-step to see if this is really up to all the hype.

Here's the victim...

I will be using the following products to clean her up...

Here is what we look like after a bath...hrmmm...still looks pretty nasty.

Next I used a claybar to see if I could get rid of all the particulate matter, aaannnddd...HOLY PAINT CHIPS!!!! Now I see what eveyone is talking about.

Now we will be applying Meguiar's Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner...viola!!! The paint chips start to fade.

Our next step is to apply a paint sealer...lookin better!

Do you apply the products under direct sunlight? It will look better if you do it in the shade.

Finally, we round off with some carnuba wax...and we're done! I think it looks AMAZING...totally worth the time and effort. It feels smooth as glass and looks like a mirror.

Chrome or Super-black?

Look, ma...NO PAINT CHIPS! (well, alot less, at least...)

Was it all worth it...you be the judge!!!

You don't have to take the bumper off to put the top one in?

I used the products in the 2nd pics in clockwise order. Plus, I have little blurbs above the pics to detail the step.

Hah! I did the exact same thing today. Soaked the car down, washed it down with soap, rinsed the car and went to work with the Mother's claybar. After the claybar, the car felt insanely smooth (and I could've been even more **** about the claying, but I'll save it for another day). It took me about an hour and 30 mins to clay bar the entire car. And once I did that, I used the provided wax with the Mother's package. But I'll probably wax again using my Meg' NXT paste on Saturday.

Thats not going to get rid of all the scratches. Give it a week or two and the swirl marks will appear. Its just a temporary fix. Also, it got more glossy in the pictures because there was less sunlight as the day went on, so best way to show a before and after, is in the same light conditions. Direct sunlight will show any scratches in the paint.

With the situation outlined above, I would have done the following:

Washed
Clayed
Polished with PB SSR 2.5 (Maybe 3)
Follow with PB SSR 2
Follow with PB SSR 1
Klasse AIO
Klasse SG

I would also use a PC or rotary to work with the polishes.

With all due respect, if paint chips aren't going to go away, then what is the purpose of using something different if the chips will still be there? I am quite satisified by what I used on this car and it has DRASTICALLY reduced the appearance of the billion paint chips I had. So what makes this stuff so much better if the chips will still be there?

Just wait till I get to machine compound your car to get all your swirl marks out.

i didnt say that those products would work miracles but all u did was a temporary fix. you need to get the dead paint off the car buff out the scratches, not fill them with products.
