4th gen using 5th gen clutch

my tranny is going in to be serviced soon so i might as well replace the stock clutch since it already has 129k miles on it. a few other members suggested that a 5th gen clutch is a very nice clutch to get since its got a bit more bite then the stock 4th gen which makes it very streetable but also good if you have a few mods or tend to be a little harsh on it everynow and then. some other options would be for me to just stick with a new stocker, or go the aftermarket route with exedy or an act stage 1.

whats everyones opinions on these clutches? especially a 4th gener using a 5th gen clutch.

I have the 5th gen. and would strongly recomend it. It feels great, and engagement is smooth. I haven't been to the track yet, but 1-2 and 2-3 feel great. 5th gen. is just about the same amount of money as 4th gen., maybe a few dollars less actually, but for the better clamping force, why not? Again, I love this setup, and suggest that you look into it.

You need a TO bearing, clutch disk, and pressure plate/clutch cover. Check this thread.

5th gen clutch and tranny will bolt up perfectly no modifications needed at all.

use a 2000 for the parts. the 2k1 has a smaller disk....which is not good.

Hey guys, just got a few more quick questions, do the SE transmissions on the 5th gen have LSD??? And i've heard that the tranny shifter sits closer to the dashboard, wont that affect my linkage????
If anyone has done this mod, tranny and clutch from a 5th gen. onto 4th gen, if u can give me some pointers as to what to tell my mechanic, tips or things to look out for, so he stops freaking out about this, it would be great, thanks. Sorry for the bother im new at this, but i just wanna make sure i get it done right, thanks again

Use a 2000 Model year transmission and clutch. There is a LSD version of the tranny but is very hard to find. If you manage to find it you will need new axles as the axle inputs to the tranny are about twice as large.

You dont need a new flywheel for the 5th gen clutch, or tranny the 5th gen tranny has the exact same part number as the 4th gen.

You dont need to tell you mechanic anything as long as he knows how to install a transmission then that is it, its a directly bolts up, no modification needed what so ever. I've heard that the shifter will sit a bit further back, but its not too noticable.
