Knock sensor seems to be shot... questions

alright so lately my gas millage has been poor, the performance doesnt seem to be the same, and the wheel shakes when in idle at a stop light, so i decided to check my knock sensor with an ohmameter. the thing that is odd is that it didnt register on it at all, i even had my dad come out and try it and even he didnt get any reading so we think the knock sensor is just dead. is that a possibility? also where are some cheap places to get the sensor at? the local auto parts stores want 200+ dollars for it so i would like to find it cheaper.

thanks in advanced guys!

Knock sensors don't cause idle issues. They measure very high resistance, almost open, you need a good digital meter to get any readings.

Have you checked for any error codes, or are you getting the KS only error code from your ECU?

if you go to jerryromenissan.com, I bought mines for $102 shipped (generic version) but it works.

I just bought this and put it in about a week ago also, $89 before shipping. It's the exact same knock sensor as the OEM, just not in the same packaging (hence generic.)

My gas mileage definitely improved since changing it.

u could also find knock sensors on ebay. Sometimes there's a seller that has them for 95 shipped. I got lucky and found a guy with about 5 of them going at 80 shipped. Search both "nissan knock" , "maxima knock" , and "maxima sensor"
